• I – primeira pessoa do singular

• We – primeira pessoa do plural

• You – segunda pessoa do singular ou do plural

• He / She / It – terceira pessoa do singular

• They – terceira pessoa do plural (também usado como singular em situações neutras em relação ao gênero)

• Who – pode ser singular ou plural, usado para perguntar sobre o sujeito

Como sujeito principal

• I teach English online.

• They play basketball after school.

Como predicativo do sujeito (após o verbo to be)

• It was I who called yesterday. (formal)

• It’s me who called yesterday. (informal, common in spoken English)

Pronomes sujeito e concordância verbal

O verbo deve concordar com o pronome sujeito:

• I play piano.

• He / She / It plays piano.

• We / You / They play piano.

Observe que apenas he, she e it recebem a terminação -s no tempo presente simples.

Erros comuns de ESL com pronomes sujeito

WRONG: Me like pizza.
CORRECT: I like pizza.

WRONG: Her is my teacher.
CORRECT: She is my teacher.

WRONG: My brother he lives in Canada.
CORRECT: My brother lives in Canada.
