Usamos in, on e at para dizer onde as pessoas ou as coisas estão. Elas sempre vêm antes dos substantivos.
Examples

Usamos in para um lugar que está dentro de um espaço maior (um quarto, um prédio, uma cidade, um país, etc.).
Examples:

The toys are in the box.

She’s cooking in the kitchen.

There’s a cinema in the shopping mall.

My uncle was born in Canada.
Também usamos in com:

in the world
-
in the sea / a river / a lake
-
in the forest / mountains / countryside

in a car / a taxi

Usamos on quando algo está localizado sobre uma superfície.
Examples:

The keys are on the chair.

There’s a clock on the wall.

We live on the third floor.

She’s lying on the grass.
Também usamos on para transporte público:

You can watch a film on the plane.

The students are on the bus.

Usamos at para lugares específicos e atividades comuns.
Examples:

Também usamos at para endereços e pontos exatos:
