Frases Afirmativas
Para verbos regulares, adicione -ed ao verbo.
Para verbos irregulares, use a segunda forma (V2) da lista de verbos irregulares.
Exemplos:
She worked abroad.
My uncle lived here.
Harry wrote many books. (irregular)
O verbo to be tem formas especiais no passado:
I/He/She/It – was
We/You/They – were
Exemplos:
- She was angry yesterday.
- We were young and happy.
Frases Negativas
Use did not (didn’t) + verbo na forma base.
Did é a forma passada de do e funciona para todas as pessoas.
Exemplos:
- She didn’t work abroad.
- Harry didn’t write many letters.
- His uncle didn’t live here.
Com to be, basta adicionar not depois de was/were:
- I wasn’t tired yesterday.
- They weren’t here two days ago.
Perguntas
Forme perguntas com Did + sujeito + verbo na forma base.
Exemplos:
- Did she work abroad?
- Did Harry write many letters?
- Did your uncle live here?
Para perguntas especiais, adicione uma palavra interrogativa (QW) no início:
- Where did she work?
- What did Harry write?
- When did he live here?
Com to be, inverta was/were com o sujeito:
- Was Harry a good writer?
- Were your parents at home last night?
Quando usamos o Past Simple?
Ações curtas no passado
- She worked abroad two years ago.
- I met my old friend yesterday.
Ações finalizadas (sem ligação com o presente)
- He was a famous singer.
- She worked abroad for 20 years. (not anymore)
Ações que não podem acontecer novamente
- Mary won a math medal when she was a student.
- My grandmother once sang with Freddie Mercury.
Sequência de ações no passado
- She entered, looked around, and screamed.
- I woke up, washed my face, and brushed my teeth.
Expressões de tempo com o Past Simple
Costumamos usar o Past Simple com palavras que mostram quando a ação aconteceu:
yesterday
the day before yesterday
just now
last night / last week / last month / last year
an hour ago / two days ago / five years ago

at 6 o’clock
