O Second Conditional é usado para:

Curiosidade: O Second Conditional fala sobre situações impossíveis ou improváveis, enquanto o First Conditional fala sobre situações possíveis!

If + past simple, would + base verb

Exemplos	Significado
If I won the lottery, I would buy a house.	(Imaginary situation)
If she studied harder, she would get better grades.	(Unreal possibility)
If we lived in Paris, we would eat croissants every day.	(Hypothetical life)

Dica: A oração com if descreve a condição (Past Simple), e a oração principal mostra o resultado (Would + Base Verb).

1. Usando "could" ou "might" em vez de "would"

Exemplo	Significado
If I had more time, I could learn Spanish.	(Ability)
If she tried harder, she might win.	(Possibility)

2. Usando "were" em vez de "was"

Exemplo

If I were you, I would take the job.

If he were taller, he could be a basketball player.

Dica: No inglês formal, usamos "were" em vez de "was" com I, he, she, it em frases do Second Conditional.

Dica: Use o Second Conditional quando algo é improvável ou imaginário, e o First Conditional quando é realista.

Usar "was" em vez de "were" (inglês formal)	If I was rich, I would travel.	If I were rich, I would travel.
Usar a estrutura do First Conditional para situações irreais	If I see a ghost, I would run away.	If I saw a ghost, I would run away.

Regra: NUNCA use "would" depois de "if"! A oração com if está sempre no Past Simple.
