Present Continuous: regras e exercícios

O Present Continuous mostra ações que estão acontecendo agora, em torno do momento atual ou planejadas para o futuro próximo. Ele é formado com am/is/are + verbo + -ing.

Perguntas

Am I speaking clearly?

Is she writing an email?

Are they waiting for the bus?

Palavras interrogativas (Wh- questions):

What are you doing?

Where is he going?

Why are they shouting?

Regras de ortografia para -ing

A maioria dos verbos: work - working, play → playing

Verbos terminados em -e: make - making, write → writing

Vogal curta + consoante: run - running, swim → swimming

Verbos terminados em -ie: die → dying, lie - lying

Ações acontecendo agora
Algo está em progresso no momento da fala.

He’s playing the guitar right now.

I’m talking on the phone at the moment.

They’re walking to school now.

Ações em torno do agora (temporárias)
Não exatamente neste momento, mas neste período de tempo.

She’s studying for exams these days.

My brother is looking for a new job.

I’m reading a very interesting novel this week.

Planos futuros (futuro próximo)
Com uma palavra de tempo futuro (tonight, tomorrow, next week).

We’re having dinner with friends tonight.

They’re flying to Paris tomorrow.

I’m visiting my grandparents next Sunday.

Situações em mudança
Coisas que estão se desenvolvendo ou avançando.

The weather is getting colder.

More people are learning English online.

This city is growing very quickly.

Hábitos irritantes (com always/constantly)
Para mostrar irritação ou raiva sobre ações repetidas.

You’re always leaving your shoes in the hall!

He’s constantly forgetting his homework.

She’s always talking when I’m trying to read.
