How do “at a time” and “at the time” differ?

  • At a time means focusing on one thing or handling things in a sequence (Please enter the room one at a time).

  • At the time refers to a specific moment in the past (At the time, I didn’t know how important that decision was).

It means using an opportunity or resource as effectively as possible (We made the most of our weekend by exploring the city).
