How to Play Crosswordle

The goal of Crosswordle is to arrange all the letters correctly so that every horizontal and vertical word is complete. The puzzle starts with a grid of scrambled letters, and your task is to swap them into their correct positions.

Follow these steps to play:

1. Choose your grid size. Select a 5×5, 6×6, 7×7, 8×8, or 9×9 board.

2. Select your English level. Pick a vocabulary difficulty from A1 (Beginner) to C2 (Proficient).

3. Examine the grid. Look at the letters and their colors to identify possible words.

4. Swap letters. Select two movable letters to exchange their positions.

5. Follow the color clues. Use green, yellow, and grey tiles to determine which letters need to move.

6. Use hints if needed. Get help with letter positions or see example sentences containing the hidden words.

7. Complete the puzzle. Continue until every tile turns green and all words are correct.

Each swap uses one move, so try to identify the correct letter positions before making changes.

Unlike traditional crossword puzzles, Crosswordle doesn't provide a list of definitions to solve. Instead, you use the letters already on the board, color clues, and your knowledge of English words.

What Do the Colors Mean in Crosswordle?

Crosswordle uses three tile colors to help you solve the puzzle. Understanding these clues is essential for completing the grid efficiently.

Green letters are already in their correct positions. These tiles are locked and cannot be swapped. Use them as starting points for identifying the surrounding words.

Yellow letters belong to the correct horizontal or vertical word but are in the wrong positions. You need to determine where they should go.

Grey letters belong to a different horizontal or vertical word and must be moved elsewhere on the board.

For example, if a row contains several green letters and one yellow letter, try to identify the word before moving anything. The yellow letter may need to exchange places with another letter in the same word.

Remember that words intersect. A letter can be part of both a horizontal and a vertical word, so always examine both directions before making a swap.
