Squares

A New Way to Play Word Puzzles

Meet Squares, better known among players as Squaredle — a creative twist on classic word search games. Instead of hunting for pre-listed words, you must discover every hidden word within a shifting grid of letters. Connect letters in any direction — up, down, sideways, or diagonally — to uncover as many valid English words as you can.

Each new puzzle appears at midnight and offers a fresh challenge for fans of brain games, wordplay, and logic puzzles.

How to Play Squares

  • Form words by linking adjacent letters in the grid. You can move in any direction.

  • Use each tile only once per word.

  • Words must be at least four letters long.

  • Earn 1 point per letter — for instance, a five-letter word gives you 5 points.

  • Keep connecting until you’ve found every possible word in today’s puzzle.

If you get stuck, try rotating the grid from the bottom corner — seeing the board from a new perspective often reveals words you missed.

Game Rules

  • Proper nouns, abbreviations, hyphenated terms, and vulgar words are excluded.

  • Rare or obscure words aren’t part of the main list but can appear as bonus words.

  • After uncovering 40% of the total words, letter indicators will appear:

    • A small number on a tile shows how many remaining words begin with that letter.

    • An orange tile means that letter is no longer used in main words but may still appear in bonus ones.

Bonus Words and Hidden Features

Squares doesn’t stop when you finish the main list — it rewards exploration.

  • Bonus words include slang, rare, and archaic words. They don’t add points but count toward your total discoveries.

  • Each day’s grid hides a special “Word of the Day.” Find it to earn two extra hints for your current puzzle.

This mix of structure and discovery makes every game session feel different and rewarding.

Hints and Help

Every puzzle comes with 3–5 built-in hints depending on difficulty.

  • Click the lightbulb icon to reveal the starting letter and direction of a hidden word.

  • Share your game link with friends to unlock one extra hint and compare progress.

Hints make the game more accessible while keeping the challenge alive.

Scoring System

  • Each valid word earns points equal to its letter count.

  • Achieve a 5-star score to complete the day’s challenge.

  • Keep track of your average and try to beat your own record as the puzzles evolve daily.

Strategy Tips

  • Start with short, common words to open new paths.

  • Rotate the board regularly — new angles reveal patterns.

  • Focus on prefixes and suffixes (like “re-,” “-ing,” “-ed”) to build longer words.

  • Save hints for complex puzzles rather than using them early.

Consistency and creativity are key — every guess helps you think a bit faster and sharper.
